  • 1.  IRBs in the time of online testing

    Posted 06-19-2020 09:52
Many labs have been exploring online testing for work with children in the past few months. My sense is that university IRBs have varied in how comfortable they are with different approaches. Some are okay with Zoom while some ban it. Some say that parental consent must be signed through REDCap while others are okay with a parent stating their consent out loud.

What have been your experiences with moving your own studies online? And for those who have been successful, what kinds of explanations have you offered for the tools that you're using? I think this information could be incredibly helpful for those whose IRBs are cautious about exploring new tools.

    Thank you!

You may want to tune into http://www.movingresearchonline.info/ next week, if you weren't already planning on doing so. We'll be talking about design issues, including IRB. I'm not sure how much we'll get into this specific issue during the live presentation, but definitely it's a good topic for the live forum on thursday.
