Mac users can record videos of their screens (like a screen capture, but video.) This is useful if you want to record lectures and you want the video to show either what's on your screen (i.e., your lecture slides) or to show your face, and also to record the audio of you speaking. Macs make it very easy--you don't need an extra microphone or anything. Here's how you do it:
To record a video on your Mac:
- Open QuickTime.
- Tap "File" at the top of the display.
- Choose "New Screen recording"
- Hit record.
- You can record the whole screen, or click and drag your mouse cursor to record just a specific part.
This will produce a .mov file that you can then post to your course website or to YouTube.

Subject: Easy video recording
Hi all,
I have been using https://screencast-o-matic.com/content/#/video to record short videos for my class. You can include a video of you and your screen, and the free version limits you to 15 minute recordings, which I find helpful to make me break up lectures into meaningful segments and not go on too long.
There are tons of tools online and it can feel a little overwhelming to consider all these options, just do what is easiest for you to accomplish.
